About Association :- The Great Indian Peninsular (GIP) Railway came into existence on April 16, 1853, when the first train on the Indian subcontinent ran from Mumbai to Thane, nominal distance of only 33 kilometres. Central Railway was created on November 5, 1951 by separating it from the then GIP Railway. Central Railway covers a large part of the state of Maharashtra and parts of north-eastern Karnataka and southern Madhya Pradesh.
